Clothing Drive: Filling More Bins

The Moeller Clothing Drive spanned from January 29 to February 2, and by the end, every house’s bins overflowed.

Many students brought in bags full of lightly used clothes to donate to St. Vincent de Paul. These clothes will go to people in need in and around the Cincinnati area. Moeller has done this clothing drive for a long time, and it has been successful every year. This year, it was especially successful with every house donating enough bags to earn the maximum house points. Each house was able to fully fill six bins. This has been the most successful clothing drive in Moeller history.

The Crusader interviewed Ms. Stiver about the success of the clothing drive. When asked about the house competition in the clothing drive, she noted, “It isn’t necessarily a competition between houses, but rather it’s a separate goal among the houses. Each house has a goal to fill all six of their bins and all houses filled them, making this year a success.”

Ms. Stiver went on to say that she was incredibly pleased with the results. “Each house succeeded in filling all six bins, which is a big accomplishment. In total, Moeller filled over 50 bins, which is the most we ever had in clothing drive history.”

Senior Ian Kowalski said, “It’s a great thing our school does donating clothes to St Vincent de Paul. It gets people involved, and it’s a very good way to create friendly competition in the house system. Overall, it’s a very positive activity we do every year.”

Kowalski added, “Being a senior leader, especially someone who is involved in the house system and creating competition, the success this year definitely means something special. There hasn’t been a year before this when as much clothing was donated.”  Kowalski emphasized that more important than meeting house goals is to appreciate that the activity provides an essential service: “If you were walking down the hall, seeing all those bags of clothes, even if it doesn’t help someone you know personally, it will go to someone in need, and it will help in the long run.”

Because of the efforts made by the students, this has been the most successful clothing drive in the history of Moeller. Students can look forward to trying to beat the new goal that was set this year!
