Football

Starting off so far this season the football team opened with a 34-17 victory against Bishop Hartley. In that game, T.J Rotello rushed for three touchdowns and both Danny Dunlop and Jordan Marshall rushed for one touchdown each. Since then the Crusaders have lost five straight coming against East Central (21-6), Trinity (44-7), Elder (35-22), St. Xavier (43-14), and Lasalle (27-25).

In an interview with outside linebacker coach Charles Boyd, he said, “The teams biggest strength this year is the senior leadership. The challenge of a coaching change along with the health crisis requires a strong leadership which these seniors have provided.” The team took a step forward in the last week and is preparing for Hamilton who is 3-3 with tough losses against Princeton, Lakota West, and Colerain.

The team is very positive looking forward to their next game against Hamilton. Their regular season record does not count in the playoffs, because of Covid 19 all teams will make the playoffs. The team has been able to move the ball racking up over 1,600 yards in their first six games combined. For the remainder of the season the team is going to remain motivated and plan on winning their next game which is the beginning of the playoffs.

Soccer

Moeller soccer has started off their season with an away opener at Sycamore High School that ended in a 2-2 tie. The two goals in that game came from Christian Ohmer and Brock Kiper. Since then the soccer team has gone 2-2-1 with wins against Lakota West and Lasalle. The two losses came against Mason and St. Xavier. The other tie was against Elder with a score of 1-1. In an interview with Head Coach Mike Welker he said, “The team’s biggest strength so far this year has been our ability to keep good vibes after things don’t go our way.”

The Crusaders have sustained two big season ending injuries with Casey Welage and Charlie Niehaus who were two projected starters in the beginning of the season. The team is motivated to get more wins throughout the rest of the season and has plenty of potential to do so. Their only other loss besides St. Xavier was to a tough Mason team with a score of 2-1.

In the Lasalle game, Moeller overcame a 3-1 deficit in the in the second half and went on to win 4-3 with a goal from Trevor Morrison and three goals from Brock Kiper to give Big Moe the win.
