Moeller Wrestling Preseason
Moeller’s wrestling program has a history of being one of the best in Ohio, ranking eighth in state last year. Ohio is full of wrestling talent, and Moeller hopes to be among the best this season as well.
Moeller has a reputation for tough, gritty practices that are taken as seriously as matches. These practices are led by a large coaching staff, with Germain Lindsey at the helm. All the individual coaches help wrestlers to improve during practice, while Lindsey runs the practice. Currently, practices are happening nearly every day of the school week to fit student’s schedules, and Coach Lindsey is also willing to arrange for specialized one-on-one coaching too. All of this will ensure wrestlers are prepared to dominate once the season starts.
This year, students and coaches are excited for some new upgrades in the wrestling facility. The wrestling program has recently acquired new wrestling mats and are going to be fixing up he practice room by building walls around mats, upgrading storage, and possibly improving workout equipment.
Junior Jared Johnston is very excited to be able to go the Ironman Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio this year. It is a very large-scale tournament that features talent from around the whole country, bringing in the best wrestlers from every state. Johnston said he is excited to be able to travel with the team and participate in the tournament. The team is looking solid this year with Johnston and Londen Murphy, both of whom placed at state last year and are returning to the team this year. The team also has several new freshmen who are looking to be solid additions to the roster.
