Basketball Season Preview
With winter sports coming up, the basketball team is looking to improve over last year, when they finished with an impressive 18-6 record despite having a tough schedule. Senior point guard, Nick Williams, shared some insight into his expectations and goals for this year.
As Williams looks forward to his final season at Moeller, he wants to end his career on a high note and hopes to really enjoy the season while also bringing back a state championship. Williams said it was important that he leave his mark on the underclassmen and on the basketball team itself: “I want to help the underclassmen succeed and make them feel the brotherhood of Moeller basketball.”
Williams, as starting point guard, wants to create opportunities for himself and his teammates to put up a lot of points and win games. He plans to take every opportunity given to him to succeed in some way on the court.
Grant Smethwick, starting guard says, “Last year we didn’t get what we wanted. This year, we have worked harder than ever and are ready to showcase it.”
During this offseason, the team had conditioning, lifting, skill sessions, and even scrimmages against other schools to prepare for the upcoming season. The ultimate goal for this season is to bring home a state championship!
The first game is on Friday, November 25th at Ohio Dominican. The first home game is on Saturday, December 3rd at 5:00. Make sure to show out and support the boys.
