Player Spotlight: Nick Kassis
By Nick WIlliams
With the winter sports seasons in full swing, the Crusader wanted to spotlight an athlete who plays a sport that is not for the weary: wrestling.
The everyday commitment that it takes to become a great wrestler takes more effort, time, and focus than people might think. Whether it’s lifting weights, trying to gain weight, or trying to lose weight days before a competition—it all takes an insane amount of commitment, and these athletes don’t always receive the credit they deserve.
Nick Kassis is a senior and has spent three years in the Moeller Wrestling program (without a freshman season due to Covid-19). He has overcome various injuries and adversity. Kassis said, ”I am very excited about this wrestling team because of how much young talent we have on the team. Moeller has a variety of freshman on the varsity roster at the moment with only one senior. The freshman are solid for their age and experience. I am looking forward to coming back in a few years to see how strong this team has become.” Nick Kassis has been extra excited about this season because his freshman brother, Tony, will be on the journey with him! Kassis added that “the wrestling team also has some great talent in the junior and sophomore class with two state placers, 4th and 5th, and a state alternate.”
The Crusader wishes our wrestlers and the rest of the winter athletes a fun and great season! If you’re curious about seeing a match, you can view the schedule and team roster at Wrestling - Archbishop Moeller Crusaders Athletics (letsgobigmoe.com).
