Moeller Wrestling Takes Out X On Senior Night
Moeller Wrestling faced the St. Xavier Bombers last week at home, clenching a victory on what was also senior night.
The seniors were introduced to the crowd with their parents and head coach Germane Lindsey. It was an emotional event, even before the wrestling started, but the excitement doubled once the matches got underway.
The crowd was loud, and the atmosphere was electric as Moeller Wrestling pulled off a 46-21 victory against their rivals. One of the most exciting matches came from Freshman Ryan Kreutz, who got his first varsity win with a last-minute escape to secure a 12-11 victory over his Bomber opponent.
After the event, the team went to the commons for a party with parents, coaches, wrestlers, and fans. There was cake, and the senior wrestlers received gift bags as well as care packages for their future college lives. It was a fun but emotional night for everyone involved and gave the seniors a reminder that the end of high school is nearing. This might sound ominous, but some are grateful for the push, as one wrestler stated, “It was a good reminder of what is coming, and what I’m working for.”
As the season comes to a close, Moeller Wrestling continues to push themselves, prepping for the postseason. This preparation brings reminders of last season’s successes and failures, with everyone on the team—wrestlers and coaches alike—striving to take their careers to the next level. The hope is that more wrestlers will qualify for and place in the state tournament, creating momentum for the program to continue to grow and reach new levels of success. As this is the seniors last go, it is especially important to them to have a standout season. The senior wrestlers are hopeful and confident that they and the team will go far in state.
