Moeller Basketball in College
In the last 35 years, Moeller basketball has sent over 45 players off to play division one basketball. Currently there are nine Moeller basketball players playing college basketball, with eight of them playing at division one schools.
Eric Mahaffey graduated from Moeller in 2024 and now plays basketball for the University of Akron. His senior season at Moeller he averaged almost 9 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. So far in his freshman year he has already made it into the six to seven man rotation. Eric has not appeared in any games yet due to an injury, but he will be playing a lot when he comes back.
Evan Mahaffey finished his senior season at Moeller in 2022, where he was a finalist for Ohio Mr. Basketball, GCL player of the year, Ohio player of the year, and a three star recruit. Originally Evan committed to Penn State where he would play in 34 games as a true freshman. When his coach left for Notre Dame, Evan decided to come back to Ohio to play for The Ohio State University. He is now in his junior year at Ohio State and is playing around 15 minutes per game.
Yoro Diallo also graduated from Moeller in 2022. He was selected on the All-GCL team for both soccer and basketball during his time at Moeller. He now plays college basketball at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Yoro redshirted his freshman year and is now playing around 10 minutes a game on average and scoring 4.5 points per game.
Max Land graduated from Moeller in 2020 where he led the team in scoring his senior year with 14 points per game. He originally committed to play at Saint Francis University, in Loretto, Pennsylvania. His freshman year he started in 17 games where he would average almost nine points per game and was a part of the NEC All-Rookie team at the end of the season. Max’s junior season he started 30 games and averaged 12.8 points a game. He scored a career high 26 points against Hartford his junior year as well. After his junior season, Max decided to transfer to South Alabama University where he started nine games and scoring ten points per game, with his season high being 17 points. Max is now a redshirt junior at South Alabama this year.
AJ McBride graduated in 2024 and now plays for Niagara University in New York. AJ averaged 6.5 points a game in his senior season at Moeller where he appeared in 24 games and started 14. So far this season he has appeared in two out of the teams’ three games.
Adian Noyes finished his senior season at Moeller in 2021 where he was the number 5 player in the state. He originally committed to play college basketball at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, then later transferred to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Aidan redshirted his freshman year at Richmond, then he appeared in 27 games over the next two seasons. He is playing 23 minutes a game this season at Belmont and has appeared in all 3 of their games.
Alex Williams is a senior at Duquesne University, in Pittsburgh. He graduated from Moeller in 2021 where he led the team in scoring with almost 16 points per game. After his senior season at Moeller he committed to play at Furman University where he would play his first 3 seasons of collegiate basketball. In his 3 seasons at Furman, he averaged 8.3 points a game, while averaging 13.2 points in his junior year. Alex has not appeared in a game for Duquesne yet this season.
Logan Duncomb Graduated in 2021; he was a McDonalds All-American nominee his senior year and committed to play basketball at Indiana University. In his two seasons at Indiana, he played 9 games each year. For his junior year he transferred to Xavier University where he would decide not to play basketball. He transferred again to Winthrop University for his senior year where he is now playing 8 minutes a game and scoring 3 points per game.
Kyle Havens was a senior last year and was a 3 year varsity starter at Moeller. After his senior season he committed to play basketball at Madonna University, an NAIA school in Livonia Michigan. He has appeared in two out of three games for Madonna this season so far, playing 5.5 minutes per game.
