2024-2025 Moeller Golf Season Recap
The Moeller Golf team has had a remarkable season, highlighted by many achievements and a strong finish at the state championship. Under the experienced leadership of Coach Tim Lambert and a large senior class, including Brady Hausfeld, Landon Harris, Charlie Schenk, Will Daulton, Jeff Fuller, and Jude Tudor, the team set out on August 1st optimistic about what the future held.
From the beginning, the team showed their potential, finishing in the top six in their first four events. They demonstrated improvement from last year, benefiting from the depth provided by a strong junior class. They secured a third-place finish in the GCL, trailing behind two very tough teams. However, the fast-paced, condensed golf season posed some challenges, and midway through, the team shifted focus to practice and honing skills.
Their hard work began to pay off as they entered the postseason. The turning point was at the sectional tournament held at Pipestone Golf Course, where they emerged victorious with a score of 291. Landon Harris led the team, shooting an impressive 69, advancing the team to the district championship. A large reason for this success in sectionals was due to the strategy of creating a routing plan to manage the course. This preparation paid off in the district championship as well, where the team placed 3rd, sending them to the state championship.
The 2024 State Championship venue, NCR South Country Club, is a very demanding course that requires many difficult shots. The cold weather, combined with rainy and windy conditions, made it even more challenging. This was reflected in the scores throughout the field compared to scores in past years. Moeller was able to hold their own, finishing 9th in the state with all five team members finishing in the top 60 individually.
I was able to sit down with Will Daulton and talk about his experience. He described the state championship as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. “The course is very nice and really a special place to be,” he said. He is just trying to make it a normal round and have fun. Since freshman year, he’s wanted to participate in state and finally got his chance. He is happy to set a standard for the younger members of the team and can’t wait to come back and watch them in the future.
