Moeller has been through a few coaches in the past few years and is now settling on the best coach yet. Mr. Bennett has had a passion for swimming his whole life and has decided to pass that on to Moeller students.
Mr. Bennett wants to further build a connection and sense of identity within Moeller swimming. This year there are a lot of guys who are not year-round swimmers, so it’s their first time swimming in the winter. He wants the new swimmers to build their confidence and love for the sport. He also wants to make the gap between JV and varsity swimmers smaller. He is having varsity practice with JV once a week, furthering the connection of the team and having JV guys grow and begin their love for the sport. Mr. Bennett’s goals for the upcoming season are to place higher in state and get more guys to qualify for sectionals and districts.
There are many important meets for the upcoming year consisting of the Coaches’ classic meet, GCL Championships, Sectionals, Districts, and the State meet. Looking forward to the 2024-25 season, the team is the largest it has been in years. With the new number of swimmers on the team Mr. Bennett is hoping to place higher in state, score more points at GCL meets, and get more guys qualified for sectionals, districts, and state.
