Moeller Basketball Wants State!

Moeller Basketball completed the regular season holding a strong 21-1 record, with their only loss coming from Centerville High School, who is also a strong contender for the state championship. The team looks forward to progressing game by game towards the first state championship since 2019 (apart from the COVID-19 AP poll state championship win in 2020).

The Crusader talked with three of the four seniors on the team: Kyle Havens, Eric Mahaffey, and Noah George.

The Crusader: What are your expectations leading up to the playoffs?

George: We have high expectations. We should easily cruise through the competition and make it to the final four at the least.

Havens: We want to get as far as we can, and we know that is the state championship. We have the talent to do it; it is just time to execute.

Mahaffey: The worst we can do is a first-round exit. We expect to make it far, probably to the second round.

The Crusader: Having only one loss on the season to Centerville, are you hoping to see them again in the playoffs?

George: We are ready to play them again, and I am excited to try and get them back when it really matters.

Havens: I am excited to see Centerville again in the regional finals. The team is ready to play them again, and we will see them in the regional finals at Xavier University.

Mahaffey: I wouldn’t mind seeing them again in the playoffs. It will be a fun, challenging, and exciting game to play. I hope to see our students there in support of our team.

The Crusader thanks these players for talking with us about their expectations for this year’s playoffs.
