Upcoming Spring Track Season

This weekend, Moeller’s indoor track team is headed to Spire Academy in Cleveland, Ohio for their last indoor track meet of the winter season. At their last meet at Mount St. Joseph University, we saw three senior runners place first in their respected events; Christian Stewart in high jump, Camden Pawlick in shot put, and Gavin Barry in hurdles. After this weekend, the team shifts towards outdoor track.

This past indoor track season, we saw class of 2025 seniors Carson Todd (long distance runner), Christian Stewart (high jumper ranked 3rd in the state), Gavin Barry (Hurdler ranked 1st in the state), and sprinters Jackson Butler (400m), Stosh Zielinski (200m), Matthew Fogler (200m, 400m) and Dana Walker (400m, 200m, 4x4, and 4x2 runner ranked 3rd in the state) return; as well as newcomer Camden Pawlick (Thrower ranked 2nd in state) from Michigan. It was a rollercoaster of a season, as they experienced many obstacles and tricky events. Track star Dana Walker stated; “The indoor season was kind of interesting, we had some ups and downs essentially in open events and in the start of the season, but eventually we got used to the workouts that coach Russo made us do and we got our wind up a little bit for the rest of the season, and those workouts helped us a lot with endurance and confidence in our races and ourselves. We worked hard this indoor season and now the state championships are coming up and once that is done we will be ready for outdoor and that’s when it’s time to get active.”

There are many things that these young men have to improve on heading towards the spring season, and lots of opportunities to look forward to. Their first meetings are at Lasalle, and Elder. There are lots of bright spots on the roster for years to come, even after this year’s seniors leave. Sophomores Kayleb Willis ‘27, and Theo James ‘27 have made an immediate impact, as well as class of 2026 juniors Landen Adams, Owen Speed, Brock Grubert, and Duncan Shirley. This upcoming track season puts a lot on the table for the future of track at Archbishop Moeller Highschool.
