Moeller Seeks Redemption
Moeller basketball, led by Coach Carl Kramer, gears up for another season. The Crusaders, one of Ohio’s most consistent and respected programs, saw their season fall short to the Sycamore Aviators, a team that finished just 11-14. For a program that prides itself on many state championships, the early exit not only shocked fans, but left the players and coaches in disbelief. That loss was their focus for the entire offseason and will continue to be their driving force throughout the season. This season they look forward to restoring their reputation and return to the form that has made Moeller a perennial contender.
Moeller, long regarded as one of Ohio’s best programs, has had a long offseason to reset and to grow stronger. Practices have been focused on correcting mistakes that proved costly last year, particularly in late-game execution and defense rotations. The coaching staff has stressed discipline and preparation as key themes, aiming to come back this year and grow back stronger.
The crusaders returned Riley McQueen (27), Cass Grierson (26), Tyler Willenbrink (26), Brock Grubert (26), and Danny Kelly (26). Their experience combined with the strength of younger players, moving up into larger roles, gives the team a blend of leadership and fresh talent.
While the sting of last season’s loss to Sycamore lingers, it has also provided fuel for the months ahead. After finishing 3-3 in conference play the Crusaders know they must make up some ground if they want to put themselves at the top of the standings once again. With renewed commitment and elevated expectations, Moeller enters the season determined to reestablish themselves as one of the state’s top contenders.
