Volleyball Offseason
2023 State Champions
Moeller volleyball has been successful throughout its history. They has won a total of eleven state championships. However, it hasn’t come easy. So much work is put in by the student athletes to make them so successful. In season, Moeller practices every day and lifts two times a week. But where athletes separate themselves from other athletes and other teams is the offseason. Moeller volleyball ensures their student athletes work hard, stay in shape, and improve their game.
During offseason, Moeller volleyball’s program will do many things to keep them accountable for the next season. They set up lifts during the week a few months prior to the season starting. The lifts are mainly lower body, focusing on increasing verticals. The lifts also focus on core power and shoulders. As the season gets closer, Moeller starts open gyms 1-2 times a week; the open gyms allow players to get more touches before tryouts begin.

All these preseason workouts and open gyms are to help the athletes become the best players they can be before tryouts, and the season starts. The lifts are to help the athletes stay in shape, increase their vertical, and become stronger. Open gyms are important for the athletes to get their connections back with each other because it has been a year since some of them have played with each other. It also helps get back into the rhythm of Moeller volleyball and how the game is played.
The reason for all this preseason work is to make Moeller’s program stronger and closer. The most important aspect of the game is the chemistry between the players. If the athletes get in the gym and on the courts together earlier, their connections will be stronger during season. Other schools obviously are doing the same, which is why Moeller takes it seriously so they can come out on top at the end of the season.
