Wrestling: Senior Day
5 seniors wrapped up the final moments of their senior season with one of their last home matches of the year. And it turned out to be greater than they had thought it would have turned out.
February 7th, Moeller wrestling hosted the OHSWCA as well as their Senior Day matches against the St. Xavier Bombers and Lebanon Warriors. They ended up blowing out both schools with a score of 58 to 16 against the Bombers, and a score of 46 to 24 against the Warriors. Moeller ended up having a total score of the day with 104 points to end the day.
I questioned senior wrestler Gael Rameriez on his thoughts of the day, “I would say it’s a fun night to be with my teammates, family and friends. It’s exciting to celebrate the night and perform well. As a team we treat it like we do every match, tournament, dual. Always training for the best of the best and treating every opponent like they are capable of beating us.”
Gael is very proud of the last two years he has spent at Moeller since transferring from West Clermont after his sophomore year. He’s satisfied with how well the outcome turned out for himself and the other wrestlers, but always staying humble he claims that himself and the team needed to stay focused on this match instead of getting ahead of themselves to be ready for state. “Therefore, we have to wrestle smart, staying locked in and cheering on our teammates is our mindset heading into this event and all other events.”
The next duel will be Friday February 13th, at 7:00 pm at Moeller. Following this event a few individuals will be on their way to Olentangy Liberty for the State Duals Championship. On Saturday February 21st the Crusaders will be wrestling in the GCL championship tournament at Elder. The Crusaders are looking to win the whole thing and become back-to-back GCL champions.
