Moeller Basketball Mid-Season Review

Moeller varsity basketball has bounced back in a big way after the slow start!

After starting out zero and three with losses to St. Charles Preparatory School, Princeton High School, and a heart-breaking loss to St. Vincent–St. Mary on a buzzer beater, Moeller had to regather. The team came back at throttle, going on a ten-game winning streak.

The streak started with an overtime win against Withrow High School, getting the team back on track. The team won the next three games against Alter, Hughes High School, and Showtime Basketball from Australia.

In the middle of the streak, the basketball team then traveled to Atlanta Georgia on December 26th for a holiday tournament. During that trip, the team went undefeated, winning three games in a row to take first place overall.

After coming back from Atlanta, the team got a statement home win dominating Chillicothe High School 68 -16. The win streak was kept alive with a win over rival St. Xavier, which led to one and zero in the GCL. Moeller was able to get one more win before the streak ended with a loss to La Salle High School, making us one and one in the GCL and snapping our win streak.

Devastated with the loss, Moeller was able to once again bounce back and fuel their energy winning the next three games, including a big win against Elder, who was leading the race in the GCL. This win kept the GCL championship alive. Although getting close to the end, Moeller has a really tough schedule still left ahead of them.

The team has three GCL games left to play against St. Xavier, Elder, and LaSalle. Along, with two more games against Centerville High School and Purcell Marian High School. The Crusaders will travel to St. Xavier on Friday, January 27th, and will then play Centerville High School at home on Saturday, January 28th. Come out and support the team as they close their regular season journey and prepare for the tournament.
