Nolan Krekeler Player Profile: Dual Threat

Senior Nolan Krekeler has proved himself to be a dual sports superstar. During the school year, Krekeler plays both golf and baseball.

He started this school year by being a senior captain on the golf team, leading a talented group of golfers. While playing all the hardest courses and events, Krekeler averaged a 79 throughout. He has spent the last three years on Moeller’s varsity golf team and has been a consistent piece to many great Moeller golf teams in that time. This season in particular, Krekeler always stayed calm and collected in the face of adversity, which allowed the team to prosper under his leadership no matter what was happening. Krekeler said on being a captain, “Being a senior is fun. It makes you feel like a leader. It’s also a bit of a confidence boost.” While Krekeler is committed to Thomas More University, it is not for golf but rather his other talent, baseball.

Krekeler has played baseball his entire life, with his love of the game starting as soon as he could walk. The six-foot two-inch right-handed throwing and left-handed hitting first baseman is excited for the upcoming season, as he has been doing his best to work hard and be in the best shape possible for the season. While Krekeler plays first base, he also can pitch, and while he has a fastball of over 85 miles per hour, he prefers to strikeout batters with his changeup.

Krekeler shares a similar outlook in both sports when he talked about how being a senior is different, knowing it’s the last time he will get to do this.

Today, Krekeler is spending his time training for the season and getting ready to watch all of his favorite Cincinnati teams. He said he was excited for what the future has to hold for both his golf and baseball career. While Krekeler prefers to play baseball, he still loves to spend his time playing and perfecting both sports to the degree he has done over the past four years. He has shown that it does not matter how many sports you play; if you have the motivation and the dedication, you are able to play both at an elite level.
