Moeller Soccer on the Road to Glory

Moeller Crusader Soccer has been in tremendous form from the start of the season all the way to the present moment in the playoffs. With the recent win against Fairfield High School in the 3rd round of the state tournament, the Crusaders’ record is 20-0-0 with 87 goals scored and only 1 given up all season.

However, the Crusaders only have one goal in mind at the present moment, and that is to win the coveted state title. “It would be a dream come true, a legacy to leave,” said team captain, Sterling Segal in an interview with FOX 19 News.

As the Crusaders have progressed through the season, they have continued to break records time and time again. On an individual level, Bradley Poppell became Moeller’s new all-time leading goal scorer with a current tally of 53 career goals. In addition to this, Austin Nowak has broken the record for “most consecutive shutouts” from 7 to 19. On a collective level, this year’s team has broken the all time OHSAA consecutive shutout record, currently holding it at 19. During the regular season, the Moeller team broke the all-time OHSAA Goals Allowed record in a single season with only 1 goal allowed. Despite all the accolades, however, the team has shown less interest in the records than in the ultimate goal of a state title.

The journey to the state tournament has been a great success for the Moeller soccer team so far. In the first round, they secured a 10-0 victory against Western Brown High School, followed by another 10-0 victory against Aiken High School in the 2nd round. With the 7-0 victory against Fairfield High School last Tuesday, the Crusaders became Sectional Champions.

The team had their most recent win against Beavercreek High School in the District Final on Saturday. Their next game will be against Centerville High School on Wednesday, November 1st at Miamisburg High School.

Be sure to come on out and support your Moeller Crusaders at 7pm this Wednesday night as they look to continue their state run. Let’s go big Moe!
