Moeller Hockey Takes on New Head Coach

Over the summer, Moeller Hockey’s head coach Brad Gibson announced that he was stepping down as the head coach of the program.

The team was anxious to learn who would be named as the new head coach, and they were thrilled when Moeller announced the role would be filled by previous JV Assistant Coach Dave Holum.

Holum is a great candidate for the coaching position as he played college hockey for St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and has coached at various levels, including coaching in the United State Hockey League and with several youth teams in Minnesota. While many players were surprised by the announcement of the new head coach, they believe Holum could build this program into league and state contenders.

When asked about the teams’ preparation going into the season, Holum said, “The team has shown, to date, a certain level of preparation for the upcoming season. We now just need to take it to another level than what they have been used to.” Holum is stepping into this role with higher expectations and standards for the team than what they’re used to. When asked about his goals for the season, he said he wants “to continually improve each day and be a better performing team in February than we were in November.” He believes that this is the best way to give this team a shot at winning a championship.

Overall, Holum is excited to get the season rolling, and the team is equally excited about the new standards and seeing what they can accomplish this season. Welcome to the Moeller Hockey Family!
