Moeller Baseball is Officially a No Hit Zone

As the Moeller baseball team prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually for the new season, they completed something rarer than a walk-off home run, rarer than a perfect game, the combined no-hitter. To begin the season with a bang three Moeller pitchers Kellan Klosterman (Junior), Zion Theophilous (sophomore), and Carson Marsh (Senior) played like the nasty boys of old and allowed no hits to the opposing team Strongsville giving Moeller a hot start to the season. While no-hitters by a single pitcher have happened over 300 times at the Major League level, only 19 of them have been combined less than the 22 perfect games all-time in Major League history. This no-hitter was only the 29th in the history of Crusader baseball.

The three pitchers above are currently rocking a combined average ERA, or earned run average (amount of runs on average given up over a 9-inning period), of 1.45 and currently have 59 of the team's 104 strikeouts. The team currently has the two leading pitchers for strikeouts in the GCl with both Kellan Klosterman at 33 strikeouts and Luke Pappano (Sophomore) at 28 strikeouts as well as Zion Theophilous being 5th on that list as well. The Crusaders have the two leaders for batting average in the GCL Finn Ellis (senior) at .625 average and Max Gildea (Senior) at .571. Moeller also leads the GCL in RBI (runs batted in) at 87 which is 23 more than 2nd place Saint X.

Moeller has started off the season hot winning their first four games and are currently 11-2 including big wins over Saint X, Lasalle, and Elder as Moeller currently holds an undefeated 4-0 record in the GCL south. Moeller baseball over spring break took a trip to Las Vegas to play in the All-Faiths tournament going 2-2 with a 10-1 win over Juan Diego out of Utah, and a 10-2 win over Saint Laurence in Illinois. The Crusaders hot start has been due to elite pitching excellent hitting and a great cast of people all motivated by each other and all who are willing to step up and be a leader. Senior Toby Huber had this to say about the hot start and upcoming schedule, "It's been a fun year, but everyone has stepped up where they needed to, and we look forward to the upcoming challenges we still have left to face." The team currently has five games on the schedule between now and next week, two of which are against GCL rivals Lasalle on April 19th and Elder on April 24th.
