Baseball Season Updates

The Moeller baseball team was projected to do very well in the GCL this year, and they have done exactly that. They started the year strong with four straight wins and then were on the road for Las Vegas during spring break for the 2023 All Faiths Classic. They ended up finishing the tournament off with 2-2.

In the first game against Regis Jesuit, Nick Wiley was up to bat in the bottom of the seventh with the score tied at five and singled with a 3-2 count, driving in one run. This became a walk off win 6-5 for Regis Jesuit. The Crusaders tried to get some runs in after falling behind by five in the sixth inning. The Crusaders made an effort, with singles by Clay Burdette, Luke Pappano, Max Gildea, and Charlie Niehaus. Moeller scored five runs during the unsuccessful comeback attempt. Each team had nine hits on the day, but Regis Jesuit pulled away with the win.

In the last couple games though, the Crusaders were able to bounce back and get away with victories. St. Laurence was defeated 10-2 by Moeller on a fateful Thursday morning. The fourth inning saw four runs scored for Moeller. With their RBIs, Carter Christenson, Forrest Day, and Charlie Niehaus fueled the significant inning. Conlan Daniel had two hits in three at-bats to lead Moeller. The Crusaders were error-free in the field and made no mistakes. With 11, Clay Burdette had the most opportunities in the field.

Moeller is sitting at 16-3 right now and were looking to play the Bombers May 1st, but the game was unfortunately cancelled. They look to play Xavier on May 3rd and May 4th this week and are hoping to pull through with a win against the Bombers. They only have eight regular season games left and are looking for more wins in the post season with the GCL tournament and look to make a run in the state tournament.
