House Scholars Meet in Academic Face-Off

Pillar Dean Mr. Bennett runs a session of the house academic challenge in the CLC.

Put on your thinking caps—the House Academic Challenge is underway!

Over the next few weeks, each house will send its best and brightest students to compete against other house teams to see which can secure the win—and the bragging rights! As with all house competitions, house points are up for grabs too.

The games will take place in the Chaminade Learning Center during M-Block and Mentor Group. While this is not a spectator sport, be sure you wish your house competitors good luck as they go up against each of the other teams. After all the houses have played each other, the winning house will be announced and the coveted house points awarded.

The House Academic Challenge is a great way to build brotherhood using communication, teamwork, and knowledge, all while having fun. Connections among grade levels are strengthened as well, with three students from each grade being selected to work together. Through this, juniors and seniors get a chance to meet underclassmen. Senior Dom Schutte emphasized how this event helps students make those interclass connections. “It has given me a chance to meet guys I would not know if I did not do the challenge. We get to know each other while using teamwork, problem solving, and the knowledge we have gained from school.”

Schutte is competing for Zaragoza House, whose current record stands at 1-1. Schutte says they are determined to make a run at the title this year. “With me and Owen Boggess returning to the team, we look forward to dominating the competition.” With determination like that, Zaragoza could be a tough house to beat.

Each house has already competed twice, and the remaining matches are sure to be competitive. Good luck to all the house teams!
