Murder Mystery at Moeller!?

No need to panic, there is not a real murder at Moeller, but coming this spring, the Moeller Theatre will be putting on a show about an early 1900s murder mystery. This is one of the many shows that the theatre group presents during the school year., but this one is a musical.

Moeller Theatre puts on one musical per year, and this year’s musical consists of ten cast members, seven from Moeller and three girls from other schools. They are being directed by Bob Hotze and James Balbach. Bob Hotze will direct the acting and James Balbach will be the musical director. The group takes their performances seriously with a rigorous rehearsal schedule of four two-hour weekly practices.

The cast began rehearsals this Wednesday; they begin by working on physical motions and vocal actions separately and then put the two together as the musical date nears. Their practice has paid off in past shows, drawing in sold-out audiences to watch them perform.

Moeller senior, Ryan Bernardon, has participated in the theatre group for two years and said, “I am looking forward to performing with my friends in front of an audience.”

The musical will be performed during the spring, even though the dates have not been finalized. Moeller Theatre productions usually start Thursday and run through the weekends. Shows during the weekends attract the biggest audiences, generally running close to capacity. When tickets go on sale, they will be available online or in the Moeller Spirit Shop.

If you are interested in being a member of the Moeller Theatre group, you can contact Bob Hotze about future production. If you do not think you have the acting skills or are scared of large crowds, the group also needs people to help with stage work and work as ushers. If you are looking to be a part of the group, there is a place for you!
