FIFA Club Recap
The FIFA Club has finished off its inaugural year on a positive note and is poised to grow even more in the 23-24 school year.
FIFA was a new club started this year by Eli Turner, Sam Klosterman, Brady Cameron, and Bo Fehrenbach. These founding members began the year by brainstorming ideas for how this club would work.
The club started by meeting in a classroom and playing the FIFA game together. Popularity built quickly, and by early December when the world cup was in full swing, there was a consistent twelve kids in the club with only two consoles. The club decided to create a world cup tournament.
A random wheel had twelve of the best countries on it. Members spun the wheel to award each player a team, and then randomized the tournament as well. The FIFA Club “commissioners” decided to spice things up and make the tournament worth a prize. Each player pitched in some money and the winner was rewarded a national jersey of their choice. After a long, hard-fought tournament, TJ Bray and Bo Fehrenbach played in the finals, with Bray pulling out the victory as Japan.
Since the tournament, members have been playing each other one-on-one for fun, leading up to an end of the year premier league tournament. They will choose teams the same way, and the prize will be the same, but this time a club jersey. This club also has been great for meeting new people. There is a huge variety of grade levels and interests in this club. Eli Turner said, “FIFA Club was a great time. Since this year was the first that Moeller has ever had this club, I had no idea what it would look like. I can say that it turned out to be something great that all the members enjoyed, which is all I could ever ask for as a leader of the club.”
The Senior leaders of this club hope that it gets carried into next year by juniors and underclassmen, so they can continue this fun for the next years to come.
