Curtain Call: Moeller's New Performing Arts Theater Is Coming!

Moeller is currently working on a project to build a new theater, equipped with an improved administration room for the drama club and improved seating for performances.

The theater will have a state of the art sound and lighting system, alongside beautiful acoustic sound. The new theater will be named after Paul E. Flaig, who made a large donation to the school: “It is my honor and privilege to donate to the performing arts center, a project that will benefit the entire student body and the Moeller community. My academic preparation and well-rounded education at Moeller – advanced math and science, computers, world languages, history, English composition – prepared me for my success in college and empowered me to pursue engineering as well as advanced degrees in business and law," Flaig said (Qtd. in WLWT). The new Paul E. Flaig Performing Arts Center will have 500 seats for all types of extracurricular activities.

The new performing arts center is scheduled to be finished at the beginning of the second semester of the current academic year. "This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to our unwavering dedication to providing our students with exceptional opportunities for artistic expression," said Marshall Hyzdu, president of Moeller High School (Qtd. In WLWT5).

Matthew Barnard commented on how the new construction has affected him. “Having vocal ensembles first thing in the morning has been an issue but not devastating to say the least. The only thing I will not be a fan of is when it gets colder and my walk to the chorus room will become a lot longer. Overall, I am very excited for the new center and can’t wait to see how it looks and sounds.”

Correction: This article previously stated that the arts center would be finished for the start of the 24-25 school year; this error has been corrected. The theater is scheduled to be completed at the begining of the second semester of the 23-24 school year.
