The Return of House Soccer

House Soccer is starting back up, and Moeller students are ready for some friendly competition! Here’s what you need to know as the season gets underway.

Every house has a soccer team that competes for house points.  During M-block, all the teams go out to the field and play.  For the first couple of weeks, it is just regular season games.  After that, it proceeds to tournament style play.  The team who wins it all gets six house points, with the runners-up receiving decreasing points from there.

House Soccer Tryouts were held on Monday, September 18th.

House Soccer is a great way to be active in the Moeller brotherhood.  One reason house soccer builds connections is that all grade levels compete—freshman through seniors.  This is a great way for the seniors to meet the younger class and get to know them better. Dom Schutte 24, who is on the Zaragoza House Soccer team, states, “it helps you get involved with the underclassmen who you may have never met before.  It is a fun competitive activity that helps you work as a team with the underclassmen.”

With Zaragoza being the winner of House Soccer last year, Schutte states “the returning talent is strong, the connection between the grades is great, and the other houses are going to have a hard time competing against us.”  This will be a tough house to compete against this year.

There are two sides to this: the fun side and competitive side.  The fun side is being able to play with your friends or against your friends while playing a sport that is fun.  The competitive side is trying to win so you can get house points to win the Marinist Cup.

House Soccer is starting their first game here in a few weeks.  So good luck to all the teams and may the best team win!
