Christmas on Campus

On Monday December 9th, Moeller hosted its annual Christmas on Campus with Coryville Catholic. Little Buddies is a school service program that involves students getting paired up with pre-k through sixth grade kids from Coryville Catholic. Moeller Juniors and Seniors have multiple days where they can spend time together with their little buddies and even some days where short events are hosted. These events involve going to the pumpkin patch, Christmas on Campus, and a zoo day. My little buddy and I had a blast on Christmas on Campus, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day with him.

After B1, my classmates and I hopped on the bus to Coryville Catholic to pick up our little buddies. The whole ride down I was imagining what our day was going to be like and how much fun we were going to have. When we arrived, we waited outside the buses for our little buddies to come out. As they walked out, I got a little nervous because I wasn’t seeing my buddy, Adyn. However, A couple seconds after the last kid walked out, Adyn ran out the door straight to me and gave me a hug with a card in his hand. Now I knew it was going to be a good day.

When we got back to Moeller, Adyn and I went to the Auditorium to pick up our Christmas on Campus designed shirts as well as some crayons and a couple of drawings. We went down next to Adyn’s friend Noah and his buddy Bradley and drew pictures together. I was cracking up the whole time because Adyn was trying to talk on his crush. A bunch of funny conversations went on between all of us and not a single drawing was finished. It was funny to watch Adyn getting scared to talk to his crush which eventually didn’t conclude the way he wanted it to (he got rejected).

After the Auditorium, we took a little walk to the AC where all the Christmas games were hosted. I had heard about the games before, but I had never seen them since I didn’t participate in Little Buddies last year. Seeing all the games for the first time was super cool because there was so much work put into it. Each game was unique and the ones that were made looked like it took a ton of time and effort to make. Adyn was super excited, and we immediately went inside. However, we did not play a bunch of games. As I expected, Adyn spent his time just running around the whole gym and playing with Noah. This was so funny to me because I was the same way when I was a kid: hyper, happy, and clueless. Although we played some games, it was still fun just to see Adyn having fun and doing his thing.

When this event was over, we got in line to see Santa Claus. During the wait, Adyn and I took pictures together and talked with other people. As soon as we got to Santa, the strangest and coolest thing happened. Adyn sat next to Santa and asked for an RC car. Prior to this, Adyn just said that he wanted “toys” and none in specific. When he opened his present, it was a toy car, and I saw the biggest smile ever appear on his face. This was by far my favorite moment this whole day and it obviously was for Adyn too.

To wrap things up for the day, Adyn and I went to the gym to eat lunch. We had Pizza, apple sauce, and cookies and sat down next to Adyn’s friends and their buddies. My mom came to Moeller to help with food, and she got to meet Adyn for the first time too. Lunch included eating pizza, eating pizza with apple sauce on top, and eating napkins. Watching this all was hilarious (I did this all the time when I was a kid). This day kind of made me relive my childhood and I am so grateful that I got to participate in it. Overall, this was great, and I couldn’t have asked for a better little buddy to do it with.
