Zaragoza Leads House Basketball

The house basketball season is currently in full swing, and the competition is fierce!

House basketball is one of the best events of the school year. Houses create teams made up of all grade levels that are then coached by senior basketball players. Currently, Zaragoza House, coached by Kingston Land, holds the first-place spot. Trinity House, coached by Alex Kazanecki, is in second place, with Quiroga in third. Eveslage is in fourth, and Pillar and Zehler are tied for the final spot.

The final day of game play is Friday, February 9th, and the matches are below:

  • Zaragoza vs Quiroga

  • Pillar vs Zehler

  • Eveslage vs Trinity

These games will determine the championship game on February 20th, which will be played in a special afternoon assembly. Directly following this game will be the annual seniors vs. teachers game, with this year’s seniors attempting to repeat last year’s student win.

Mrs. Matuszek played a big part in the creation of the house system, out of which came house basketball. Mrs. Matuszek said, “House Basketball was one of the original competitions that started the first year of the house system at Moeller. Since the basketball program is so competitive, house basketball gives guys who didn’t make the team a chance to play a sport they love.”

House basketball is definitely one of the highlights of the second semester! Good luck to all the houses!
