Joey Watts
Hi, my name is Joey Watts. I am a baseball player, and I’m currently a senior at Moeller. I grew up in Hyde park, and went to St. Ursula Villa from pre-3 to 8th grade. Compared to Moeller, this was a much different environment, for example, I was in a grade of 36 kids, with around 9 boys. Historically at my middle school the majority of the boys had gone to Summit Country Day and St. X. However, for my class we had two boys enrolled to Moeller. This made me come into Moeller with the attitude of completely starting over. I was excited for this, and from the get go, I started to get involved with some other baseball players before freshman year had started. This had helped me to get a foundation of friends coming into Moeller, which made my experience much better.
That would be my biggest advice for incoming freshman, is to get involved early to be able to make some friends, because looking back the kids that I first met ended up being my best friends across my high school appearance. With this, I have played baseball all three years since I’ve been here. Some of my best memories have revolved around playing or being with the baseball guys. I’d say my best memory across my Moeller experience happened last year. It was a night game at Prasco Park, and if you’re unfamiliar with Prasco, they always get good crowds because they hand out free food. With this, we had around 5,000 fans at our game and the game ended up going to extra innings with us winning in the top of the tenth. That was hands down my favorite experience at Moeller. Lastly, the best thing to do for Moeller is to cherish the moments you still have left. Being a senior now I remember my freshman orientation like it was yesterday, and to think I only have one year left is very bittersweet, so get involved, talk to that person, and make some memories.
