Jack Ujvagi
My name is Jack Ujvagi. Before Moeller, I was this really tall scrawny kid and shy. I attended St. Gabriel Consolidated School, which is a small grade school in Glendale, OH. I played basketball there, but I also played club baseball as well. I went there from kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. Since it was a small school, I got pretty close to a lot of people that went there. Including me, there were 6 guys that went to Moeller after St. Gabriel.
I have done a lot at Moeller including playing baseball and being a Mentor Group captain. But the most rewarding thing that I have done is Magnified Giving. Me and a group of some guys were able to win $1000 for a small nonprofit organization in the area, which was really beneficial. In the process of winning that money, we were able to spread more awareness about homelessness in the area. The scary part about it though is that we had to present in front of a large panel of people that we don’t know to help win this money.
My favorite Moeller memory arguably is when we went to St. X for football and were able to beat them at their home field 45-37. This moment was super memorable for me because not only was the game super fun, but the pregame was super fun as well. For some reason before the game, me and a group of buddies were able to go into St. X and run some basketball games before the football game. Now some of those games did get a little heated, but it was all worth it because we won. And winning the football game which was a nailbiter helps as well.
What I hope to do after Moeller is go to Capital University to study education and play baseball. I hope to potentially get my masters degree to try and help me find a better job after college and earn more money as well. My ultimate goal is to become a high school history teacher back here at Moeller since this place has helped shape me into who I am today. I always like to say that the social studies and history teachers here at Moeller really helped me decide what I want to do with my life, whether they realize it or not.
