St. Vincent De Paul Service Club

Moeller Students helping out the Community

Saint Vincent De Paul is a service club that meets twice a month to do activities surrounding faith and service. They will also go to service occasionally on a Saturday.

This service club is new to Moeller this year, and because of this, the students running it have an opportunity to shape it however they would like. The club had a good amount of people sign up for service and are looking forward to a successful first year.

The Crusader interviewed one of the seniors in the club and asked a couple questions. Senior, Zavier Hoover, talked about his work in the club. Hoover said he joined the club because he wants to “make a difference in the community and help the less fortunate.” Hoover wants to do everything he can to help people who don’t have the same opportunities as many of us.

Hoover went on to say that he has never done service like this before, but he has always wanted to help the poor and help clean up poor neighborhoods. He has a big goal this year of reaching one-hundred service hours and he feels that Saint Vincent De Paul is the perfect opportunity to get closer to that goal. Hoover talked about sometimes seeing homeless people on the side of the street and it “hurt his heart” not being able to help people like them in need.

Hoover also talked about what he wants to take away from this club, saying that he wants to “become a better man through understanding one another.” He wants to make a difference in his community and help out. The last takeaway he wants from this is to get closer to God and have a better faith life.

Saint Vincent De Paul activities kick off here real soon as the club gets their members together.
