Veteran's Day Assembly at Moeller High School

By Nick Kassis

Archbishop Moeller held a Veteran’s Day assembly on November 10th to commemorate and show gratitude for those veterans and their service to our country. Students along with parents and community members were able to attend the service.

Moeller was extremely fortunate to hear US Airforce Four-Star General Maryanne Miller speak at the assembly. General Miller was commissioned in 1981 and has logged more than 4,800 flight hours. General Miller is also a devout Catholic and spoke about the importance of nurturing one’s internal life in addition to one’s external life. She emphasized the importance of service as part of this journey, which is a message that resonates with many Moeller students and faculty.

The Moeller Vocal Ensemble and Chorus participated by singing a few songs in honor of fallen soldiers, veterans, and active-duty service members in attendance. The Moeller Chorus and Vocal Ensemble sang the songs, “Mansions of the Lord,” “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and “The Blue and Gray” to finish off the assembly. Moeller’s Veterans Club director, and Football kicking coach, Tim Waechter led the assembly, mainly thanking all veterans for their service and speaking about a certain special veteran named General Maryanne Miller.
