New Teacher Profile: Mrs. Ocariz!
By Tony Arnold
This week, The Crusader had the chance to talk to Mrs. Amanda Ocariz, a new teacher at Moeller this year, to get to know her and see how she is enjoying Moe so far.
Crusader: Who are you? Tell us about your family and some hobbies you enjoy, and previous work experience?
Ocariz: I have a son who is a freshman at Moeller and a seventh-grade daughter who attends The Summit. As a family, we love to go on ski trips. On weekends, I love to watch my kids play soccer, golf, and piano. Prior to working at Moeller, I worked for eighteen years as a junior high English teacher at Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School. I have a bachelor's degree from Miami University in journalism and economics and a master's degree in teaching from Kent State. Last year, I was given the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Ohio Department of Civil Rights.
Crusader: What classes do you teach at Moeller?
Ocariz: This year at Moeller, I am running and teaching the Student Run Business and teaching sophomore English.
Crusader: What have you enjoyed about Moeller so far?
Ocariz: So far, I have enjoyed being part of the Moeller community because there is always something going on; whether it is a sporting event, a freshman get-together, or a chance to give back to the community, Moeller is constantly busy. I love the enthusiasm that students and teachers have for Moeller; it makes it an exciting place to be.
We want thank Mrs. Ocariz for taking the time to talk with us. Welcome to the Moe Family!
