New Staff Profile: Adam McClain, Intervention Specialist

Meet Mr. Adam McClain, the new Intervention Specialist here at Moeller High School!

Mr. McClain has taught at one other school and coached football at three different schools before coming to Moeller. Since 2010, he taught at Norwood, which was his alma mater. In addition, he coached at Norwood for 6 years, Loveland for 2 years, St. Xavier for 5 years, and here at Moeller since the 2018 season. At Norwood, he worked as an intervention specialist and continues in this role, bringing his skills and experience to Moeller.

Mr. McClain began his post-secondary education at Thomas More College and transferred to Northern Kentucky University, where he would earn his degree in education, with a focus on middle grades social studies and K-12 special education.

On working in education, McClain said, “It brings me joy to see young students and athletes exceeding what they felt was initially their potential. Once they do that, their progress seems to skyrocket even more as they press forward to bigger and better outcomes for themselves, their families, and their communities. It’s REALLY something neat to experience each year I get to continue doing what I do.”

Out of school, Mr. McClain is one of the coaches for the Moeller Football Team. He is the Special Teams Coordinator and a defensive backs coach. He says he enjoys coaching because, “I get to be directly involved with the game that helped shaped me for so many years, well after I stopped playing. Another part that makes this fun and well worth the time commitment is to see my son enjoy being around the team each year. He talks to everyone outside the program as if each guy on the team is his big brother, and I can see the positive impact that the ‘Moeller guys’ as he calls them, have on the development of his character.” Mr. McClain truly enjoys having the opportunity to “allow the game to shape young student-athletes in the same way it did me. It’s rewarding to see the growth young men make through their four years playing the game.”
