Crusader Games 2023

Pillar House won the Crusader Games .

This year’s Crusader Games proved to be as exciting as ever, with Pillar House pulling out a big win for the day.

The Crusader Games is an annual house event where students compete in a variety of games, some silly and some serious. The house that wins not only takes the Crusader Game Cup, but also earns points towards the Marianist Cup. Crusader Game points are worth double, giving houses one final opportunity to boost their chances to win the overall house competition.

There are a lot of games to be played during the day: cornhole, ping pong, chess, Super Smash Bros., homerun derby, tug-of-war, jousting, scooter races, dodgeball, and sack racing.

The boys in Pillar got the job done, winning the competition in Mr. Graham’s final year as dean. House members enjoyed the victory as an opportunity to celebrate with Mr. Graham one last time.

Drew Reinhold, who participated in dodgeball for Pillar House, said, “It was a competitive, fun time, with all the guys. Even though we lost in the semi-finales, I still enjoyed playing because it was my last big school event like that. And I can look back and know I’ve made some memories.”

Brady Cameron who played cornhole for Eveslage during this event, said “Cornhole was a lot of fun, being around everyone, even underclassmen. It was also cool to watch the dodgeball games going on because other games were in the AC.”

Eli Turner coached the dodgeball team for the Zehler Bears and said, “I’m proud of my Zehler brethren who showed up in the championship match, although we lost in a nail-biting sudden death finish.”

Congratulations to all the winners and competitors from the day!

The dodgeball battle’s final two competitors: Walleye Ratliff and Nolan Krekeler.

Quiroga House cheers on its competitors.
