Breaking Ground on the Innovation Hub

The construction is underway at Moeller High School! Workers have been on campus all summer getting ready to lay the foundation for the new Innovation Hub.

The hub is designed to promote critical thinking skills for students and to build teacher/student relationships. This dynamic and open space will promote exploration of new ideas, examination of art, engineering, and technology. There are already classes in these subjects at Moeller, but the hub will be dedicated to these topics, which will greatly enhance every student’s learning experience.

The Innovation Hub is funded by the Raise the Shield Campaign that started back in 2019. The campaign supported the efforts of many new features built in recent years. This includes the new student commons, the 2.0 classrooms, band room, and athletic complex. With those amazing additions completed, the journey continues with the building of Moeller’s Innovation Hub.

The construction has necessitated some slight changes for this upcoming school year. There are fewer parking spots in order to accommodate parking for the construction crew, and students navigating to the chorus and band rooms have to take an alternate route. The Mary statue also has found a new home for the duration of construction and is now located in front of the school. Once the hub is completed, the statue will be returned to the new courtyard area, very near where it formerly stood.

Moeller President and alumni, Marshall Hyzdu ‘96 said, “The Innovation Hub will be a game changer for the student body and staff. There will be doors connecting the hub to the new student commons. It will have a collegiate feel to it and will be really special.” As a former student, President Hyzdu has a unique perspective on the progress that has occurred on campus over the years. The Innovation Hub project is one in a long line of improvements pointing towards a bright future for the school.

As the construction continues, students and staff have a front row seat and many are excited to witness the building take shape. It will advance student learning that will have a positive impact for years to come.
