Get Psyched! MoeGate 2023

This year’s MoeGate had a different feel to it, seeing several changes due to scheduling and construction.

MoeGate, which usually occurs on a Friday, was held on a Thursday due to Friday not landing on a B Day that week. Zehler house was also moved from their usual spot in the courtyard to the All Saints baseball field. Luckily, neither of these changes had a negative effect on the festivities of MoeGate.

MoeGate is a pep rally and tailgate on steroids. During this event, students separate into houses, spread out across campus, and get all kinds of foods like Skyline, Raising Canes, LaRosa’s, Chicl-Fil-A, hot dogs, and burgers (generously provided by parents from each house). After everyone is done eating, students go to the gym for a huge pep rally to get psyched for the big football game. This year, MoeGate preceded the game with St. X, one of Moeller’s biggest rivals. The MoeGate pep rally also provided the school with a chance to shout out teams that won state the previous year: baseball, volleyball, and esports. The calvary did a great job of getting everyone hyped for the game with some help from the Moeller and MND band and the Moeller Cheerleading Squad.

Moeller students always enjoy MoeGate because of the great food and fun atmosphere. Kaden Snodgrass ‘24 said, “With it being my last MoeGate, it was a good chance to be around all the guys in Trinity House and meet some new guys that I haven’t really seen these past 4 years, but it was fun. We played basketball and got to eat some good food, courtesy of all the moms.” Ryan Crouch ‘26 said “I like Moe Gate because all the shadows came in and there’s a lot more people in the school. The rally was alright, but what I didn’t like is that it was on a Thursday instead of a Friday.”

Moe Gate must have pumped everyone up because Moeller beat St. X in Welcome Stadium 20-10! All the students were pumped the whole game cheering and screaming.
