Admin Profile: Jerry Beitman

Have you ever wondered who the man is that walks around the parking lot in the morning checking for parking tags? Have you ever wondered who is in charge of the security of our school? That would be Moeller’s very own Jerry Beitman ‘76.

Mr. Jerry Beitman ‘76

Over the past ten years, Mr. Beitman has been at Moeller as both a substitute teacher and, of course, as the head of security, providing strength and safety for the school community. Prior to a long career at Moeller, Mr. Beitman worked for the city of Montgomery, serving in the police department for over thirty years.

In the police department, Mr. Beitman held several different positions: a patrol bike officer, safety village coordinator, D.A.R.E. officer, fatal/serious auto accident investigator, patrol sergeant, and assistant police chief. Prior to his distinguished service in Montgomery, he even worked at Kings Island in the security department for five years.

The Crusader had the opportunity to catch up with Mr. Beitman and learn about how Moeller has not only impacted him as a member of the faculty and staff but also as a former student and graduate of the class of 1976. Beitman said, “As a staff member, I hope I’ve been able to make a difference in the safety and security of the school, but I’ll let someone else determine that answer.  Also, I hope I was a positive role model for the students.” Mr. Beitman went on to say that his time as a student at Moeller “set the foundation as to who I am as a person, husband, father, and grandfather. Besides what was taught in classes every day, I learned many valuable life lessons: be humble, don’t take yourself too seriously, and there’s never a wrong time to do the right thing.” Mr. Beitman still remembers his time as a student at Moeller with great fondness, saying “Let’s just say I drank the Kool-Aid! I loved my time at Moeller. Many of my closest friends are former classmates and we still stay connected, even after almost 50 years. The teachers were outstanding, and I owe a lot to them and my guidance counselor, Brother Flaherty.”

Mr. Beitman has been an excellent member of the Moeller community throughout his combined 14 years here as both a student and faculty member and has also exemplified what it truly means to be a “Man of Moeller.”
