Moeller Honors Founder's Day Award Recipients
On January 23rd, the annual Founder’s Day Mass at Moeller High School was held.
The recipients of the Founder’s Day Award this year were Mr. Paul Ramstetter and Mr. Curt and Mrs. Linda Curran. The award is given to a person or persons who exemplify the commitment to Marianist values in education while also being dedicated to the search for truth.
Last year’s recipient, Mr. Derek Williams, noted, “It was a great honor winning this award.” Potential recipients are nominated by their fellow coworkers within the Moeller community. Staff then go through the nominations very carefully.
The Founder’s Day Award is also a reminder of the history of the Marianist community. The award is given in the name of Mary and Blessed Father Chaminade to show respect for the values each upheld. It’s a way to honor leaders in our community who consistently give back and exemplify the values of the Marianists.
The best part about Founder’s Day is the Mass where the whole community can come together as one to show appreciation to the recipients. The award is exclusive to Moeller and only a handful of members of the community are nominated, and fewer receive the honor or the award.
In their acceptance speech, the Currans talked about Moeller having a huge impact on their lives. When they first walked through the doors, they were met with respect and hospitality. They love the Moeller community and will stay engaged with Moeller in the future. Mr. Paul Ramstetter talked a little bit about how he ended up at Moeller, and what his time at the school has meant to him. He was a principal and teacher at a few other schools, including Purcell Marian. He went on to talk about how Moeller and the Marianist Charisms have had a great impact on his career and in his life. He loves the students he has had the opportunity to work with over the years.
All of the award winners stated that they were both very honored and excited to win this award.
