Mom Prom

On Sunday, March 10th, Moeller students escorted their mothers to Mom Prom, an event that many moms and students look forward to all year. Mom Prom is a great way for Moeller families to meet and connect with one another.

The general consensus from attendees was that the event was a huge success this year, with great music and food. Senior Kyle Havens said, “The theme this year was ‘Pretty in Pink,’ and we had some good chicken and waffles. Mom Prom had a great turn out from students, and every student got to dance with his mom.” Havens went on to say that one of the best parts of this year’s Mom Prom was “how many places there were to take pictures,” which is a great way for moms and students to commemorate the event.

Mrs. Hoelker, who runs many of the big events at Moeller, said that Mom Prom “is a long-standing tradition at Moeller. Especially at an all-boys school, we look to have several events to strengthen the bond between moms and sons. So in the tradition of Christmas, Cocktails, and Couture (the fashion show), we love to plan events to make memories for our moms and their sons. We love the tradition of the seniors choosing the theme, and this year they chose the food too– chicken and waffles! It wasn’t a mom's favorite, but I think the boys loved it!”

Mrs. Hoelker said that Mom Prom has been happening at Moeller for several decades, and that over the years, the event has become more and more popular. “This year we broke an attendance record with over 760 guests,” Mrs. Hoelker noted.

Every year, there is an effort to make Mom Prom even better. Mrs. Hoelker added that in recent years, “[Mom Prom] moved to the Manor House instead of the AC to give it a more sophisticated and special feel for students and moms. We’ve added a meal too. We received good feedback on the changes.”

Thanks for all those who worked to make Mom Prom and special night!!
