Innovation Hub Set to Open Fall 2024
With construction on the Innovation Hub nearing completion, students are getting eager for its opening. The Hub will be connected to the Student Commons allowing for easy transit through buildings. The full opening is projected for spring 2025.
There’s been a constant list of additions and improvements at Moller High School year after year, and the Innovation Hub is the next great improvement students can access. The Crusader had the opportunity to speak with Moeller’s Provost, Dr. Brookbank, about what students can expect from the Hub next year.
The Crusader: What will be open in the fall? Are there going to be classes and how will the Hub be utilized?
Dr. Brookbank: The Innovation Hub will open in fall 2024, with courses held in the Innovation Hub building for second semester.
The Crusader: What will the Innovation Hub provide to students that is different from what the school currently provides?
Dr. Brookbank: The Moeller Innovation Hub serves as a manifestation of our REALearning philosophy – Relational, Experiential, Authentic Learning. While this philosophy is inherent across our school and curriculum, we are excited to launch the Innovation Hub to expand our high impact, immersive learning opportunities that empower students for the future as confident, adaptive change makers.
The Crusader: Lastly, what is the goal of the Innovation Hub?
Dr. Brookbank: The goal of the Hub is to empower students with critical mindsets and skills. The Hub will also provide an avenue for students to network and partner with leaders and thinkers in different business and non-profit sectors of the community.
Dr. Brookbank also mentioned that Moeller will offer fourteen new Innovation Hub style courses including Art & Pop Culture, Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and Investment Research. These courses were created to utilize the Hub’s unique resources, and additional classes are anticipated in the future. Our school values will also be evident as these courses will view problems and solutions through a Catholic and Marianist lens.
The Crusader thanks Dr. Brookbank for taking the time to answer questions regarding the Innovation Hub. The Hub is currently on schedule thanks to the hard work of the construction crew, the administration, and faculty.
