Mr. Minnick

Mr. Minnick is the type of person who dedicates all of his time to his work. He has been teaching at Moeller for 33 years and has seen Moeller grow and change in many different ways. He has taught English for his entire career here, recently at the sophomore level. He has been able to adapt to the changing times throughout his time. At first, everything was done with pen and paper and textbooks were always used. Now since everything is more technologically driven, he has been able to work that into his teaching style. He has a great blend of old school and new school teaching. Books are still being read on paperback, textbooks are still being used, but there are more assignments online, and papers are written digitally. He is able to make his class fun and enjoyable, but also still educational. He sometimes tells us some of his very funny stories from his life before teaching. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that some of them are even true. Doing this though I have noticed can lighten up the room and really makes his classes fun.

But enough about Mr. Minnick’s teaching. I am going to talk to him as a person. I have known Mr. Minnick for the past four years since I am in his mentor group. One trait that I admire about him is that he can be very passionate over some things, especially things that help people in need. He is especially passionate about the Raffle and the Canned Food Drive. He is always reminding us that the Raffle helps fund some of the things here that we use at Moeller. For the Canned Food Drive, since it is always happening around Thanksgiving, he is always saying that we need to support families who may not be able to provide their own Thanksgiving meals. That passion that he shows for these two things is why he is one of my favorite teachers here at Moeller.

Lastly, I and everyone else in the Moeller community wish Mr. Minnick and his wife a happy retirement! I can’t even begin to understand how stressful and hard it can be to work with fourteen to eighteen year olds for 33 years of your life. Thank you Mr. Minnick for all of the things that you have done for Moeller High School!
