Esports Season Recap
By Will Patterson
The Moeller Esports Team has made significant progress since its inception in the 2020 school year, placing fourth in state for Smash Bros this year after completing an undefeated regular season.
There are currently two teams for the games Super Smash Brothers and Rocket League. The teams are led by Coaches Gavin Gray and Michael Shaffer. Though there currently isn’t a team for the game Overwatch, if there is enough interest and readily available players, the esports team could make room for a third game to join the current line-up.
Moeller Senior and member of the Super Smash Brothers team, Trey Gertz, says the Moeller Esports Team had a very good season this year. This is very impressive due to it being their first year where they could fully compete as a team. Based on this stellar performance, the esports team looks to have a very bright a future here at Moeller.
Also adding to the positive outlook for next year, the team will only be graduating two of their ten players in 2023. With eight returning players and potentially new talent in the 2027 freshman class, the team may have a very high chance of making it to state again, if not winning the whole thing next year or in years to come.
Continued good luck to the team!!
