Moeller Cross Country: A Groundbreaking Season in Review
This 2023 season was truly groundbreaking for Moeller Cross Country.
The team did a great job during its meets, consistently placing at higher levels than in previous seasons. Runners achieved this consistency in performance as the result of hard work and dedication to bettering themselves overall. This is also the second year the team fought its way into regionals thanks to phenomenal talent. Because of this, Moeller Cross Country placed second in the GCL and ranked 9th out of 31 teams in a New York meet with some of the best runners in the country.
There were also great captains who helped lead the team to many of these accomplishments throughout the season. Seniors Colin Swallender, Jacob Herzog, and Max Maney helmed the 2023 Cross Country team, setting strong examples in dedication for underclassmen.
The coaches are also to be commended for the strong season. Their guidance and support for the runners contributed abundantly to their success this fall. As Senior Colin Swallender stated, the success of the season is linked to “the hard work we put in and all the runs this year, as well as the coaches’ guidance.” They have helped train and develop the skills of team members towards continual improvement.
The team for next fall looks very promising, especially the rising juniors for 2024-25. They have exceptional talent that could take Moeller Cross Country to higher levels. The Moeller Cross County team’s future looks bright as more talent emerges and athletes work even harder. The runners, as well as the coaches, will take the team far next year, showing the results of their dedication.
