Roster in Review: Your 23-24 Varsity Basketball Team

Moeller’s 23-24 Varsity Basketball team is loaded with talent and skill this year! The roster consists of seven returning players, seven new members, and one transfer.

Here’s a look at your Crusader’s roster for the season.

  • Three-year varsity starter and Niagara University commit, AJ McBride, is a senior who looks to continue leading this team. He is currently recovering from an Achilles tendon injury that happened over the summer but aims to return by the December 9th game against St. Vincent-St. Mary.

  • Akron University commit, Eric Mahaffey, had a breakout game against Lakota East in the sectional championship last year and hasn’t looked back since. Mahaffey has the potential to be one of the best guards in the state of Ohio this season.

  • Senior point guard Kyle Havens is also a three-year starter who is looking to get his name out and earn even more respect this year.

  • Senior Noah George logged some great playing minutes last year and will be a key factor for this team to make it far in the tournament.

  • Junior Kingston Land is an athletic 6’8 power forward who can do it all. Land holds multiple division one offers and looks to dominate this season.

  • Junior Roman Mason is a two-sport athlete, making noise on the football field and basketball court. Unfortunately, his season last year was cut short due to an injury, but he will be back and better than ever this year.

  • Junior Griffin Mitchell will be looking to make a name for himself. Mitchell played JV last year and has a lot of potential. He is a great teammate and person.

  • Junior Glen Kitchen is a sharpshooter who played JV last year. Kitchen continues to improve and takes every opportunity to learn and increase his skill. His time has come!

  • Junior Zach Green began on JV last year but was brought up to varsity towards the end of the season. He is a great all-around player who is unselfish and loves the game. Green is someone to watch this year.

  • Junior Brady Franz is a versatile 6’6 guard who has transferred all the way from Texas to be a part of the Moeller family. Franz said of his transfer, “My dad was a Crusader, and I see all the relationships he has built from Moeller. I definitely want to be part of a culture like Moeller’s.”

  • Junior Colson Krebs transferred last year from Norwood. He is a 5’10 guard who takes care of the ball and looks to make plays.

  • 6’5 Junior Alex Kazanecki will be a huge part of this team’s success. Right now, he is under the radar but will be one of Ohio’s top players by his senior year. He is a sharpshooter and athletic driver that seemingly has no weakness.

  • Junior Jake Bell led JV last year to an undefeated record. He is a 6-foot point guard that can make shots and initiate the right plays. He will be out due to a back injury, but the team hopes to see him back on the court after he is recovered.

  • Junior Jonah Hayes is 6’4 and extremely talented as an athlete. He is currently playing football but will play a huge role in Moeller’s physicality.

  • 6’4 Sophomore Cooper McCutchan played JV as a freshman last year and contributed to their undefeated record.

Good luck to the Crusaders as they begin their 23-24 basketball season!
