Student Athlete Spotlight: Max Rudie

Senior Bowler Max Rudie describes his sport by saying, “It is like golf, in which consistency is key. You need to have patience but passion for each bowl.”

Rudie has played all four years of his high school career and has made countless bonds and memories through his love of the sport. His favorite memory was one made recently, “when the house event encouraged tons of people to show up and watch us bowl, even though many had never even bowled a game before.”

It is moving that so many students came out to support the team in a sport that requires great patience, concentration, and sometimes silence. Rudie also commented that this is what he loves about Moeller and Moeller Bowling. “If I were to bowl for any other school, I guarantee the connections I’ve made with fellow teammates would not be as strong, nor would I ever have the ability to bowl in front of a hundred of my fellow students and classmates.” Rudie returned to this thread several times in our conversation, emphasizing that Moeller is a special place for athletes and students.

Rudie said that if given the chance, he’d do all four years again. “I truly enjoy the program and the coaches, along with the athletes on the team. I love travelling and participating in tournaments year-round. Bowling has not only helped me develop my skills in the sport, but also develop the bonds I share with my teammates, and that is something I’ll always keep with me.”

In his final season as a Moeller bowler, Rudie has set an important goal for himself and his teammates—he wants to bring home the GCL trophy. This is something that has never been done in the history of the bowling program. Rudie said, “through our hard work at Moeller, anything is possible.”

We wish the best of luck to Rudie and his fellow senior stars on the Moeller team. Go Crusaders!
