Senior Night - Moeller Swimming and Diving
On Thursday, January 18, the Moeller Crusaders faced off against the St. Xavier Aquabombers on Senior night. The meet took place at Keating Natatorium. Moeller Senior Swimmers and Divers consisted of Landon Glatt, Bryce Akemon, Jake Karulf, and Ian Kowalski. Unfortunately, Moeller lost to St. Xavier with a score of 110–175.
The Crusader had the opportunity to talk with two Moeller Swimming and Diving seniors about the team.
Crusader: How did you mentally prepare for the meet?
Kowalski: Usually just slow breathing, but it depends if you warm up in diving. You either warm up and have 40 minutes to chill or warm up and go right to the meet, but I always have my AirPods in between dives.
Akemon: I didn’t mentally prepare. I just threw myself in there.
Crusader: What’s it like being part of the Moeller Swimming and Diving team?
Kowalski: Our culture is something unique because we rarely see each other at meets, yet we are a very close group who is always checking in on the other group and going out to support each other.
Akemon: It’s a cool feeling being part of a great team and the brotherhood we have.
Crusader: What do you believe your role on the team is?
Kowalski: Show up, support the boys, and have good vibes.
Akemon: I believe my role on the team is being a teammate that supports anyone, but also getting to know the team more.
The Crusader thanks Ian Kowalski and Bryce Akemon for taking time to talk. If you plan to attend a swim and diving meet, The Crusader suggests you dress in attire fit for a hot summer day because the Natatorium is very humid.
The next swim/dive meet is Friday, January 26 at 7:15 PM against Elder High School at the Blue Ash YMCA. Good luck to the team and BEAT ELDER!!
