Recent Look at Moeller Wrestling
Moeller Wrestling ended their regular season with a winning record of 5-3 that included a great win against our rival St. Xavier High School. Moeller Wrestling is 2-1 in the GCL, but La Salle won the GCL South Title.
Moeller Wrestling’s 2024 season has been full of ups and downs. A couple weeks ago in the OHSAA State Duals Regionals, the team won the semi-final to make it to the championship. Before getting to the semi-finals, Moeller wrestling got second place at the Raider Invitational. After that, they fell to La Salle 18-51. This tough defeat against La Salle gave them motivation going into the State Duals, and the team beat Elder 43-31 to advance to the championship. For the championship, Moeller met La Salle again, losing 24-25 this time.
After the tough loss, the Crusader spoke with Drew Budd. Budd said of the loss, “I thought we had good momentum coming into the game, but we let them get in our heads and get to us, but now we are looking ahead to show out in the tournament.” It is clear that the team is confident and ready for the tournament. In fact, the team took first place at Loveland High School last weekend in the sectionals. Moeller looks to build off their loss in the GCL to La Salle and use it for motivation to go far in the tournament.
The wrestling team will proceed to districts this weekend at Kettering Fairmont High School. Good luck to all of our wrestlers!
