Moeller Swim and Dive Coasts into the Playoffs

Look out! The Crusader Swim and Dive team is hot. With an impressive 4-1 record in dual meets and taking second in the GCL, the diving team went to sectionals Tuesday, February 6th. Swim will be competing at sectionals on Friday, February 9th at Mason High School. Both swim and dive are looking ahead to district meets next week, which will be held at Miami University.

The Crusader had a great opportunity to take the time and sit down with Senior Diver Ian Kowalski and Senior Swimmer Landon Glatt. Here’s what they had to say.

Moeller Swim and Dive team.

Crusader: Are you happy with how this season has gone?

Kowalski: I would say overall the season has been pretty successful. Diving is a very individualized sport, but as the season progresses, I would definitely say that the development has been there. Getting third at GCL's for me was by far the biggest high of the season.

Glatt: For me personally, I haven't done that well this season because of being sick. As a team, however, I think we've done great compared to last year.

Crusader: Is there anyone on the team who has surprised you so far this season?

Kowalski: I would say that the dive team has been better than expected. Both of us on the team have been doing better, and we are hoping to do well at sectionals and districts.

Glatt: So far this season, I have really been surprised by Alex Held, as he's been dropping times left and right in his events, and really has improved since last year.

Crusader: Is the team set on looking for a state title push?

Kowalski: I would say for diving there isn't much of a state title push. The same student athlete has won the past three years, and he is committed to OSU for diving. I think the hope to get to state is high. They are taking eight boys to state this year, which gives us an extra spot to try to make it.

Glatt: We're ranked ninth in the state for swimming, but even then, there's literally no chance for a title just due to the amount of swimmers St. X has compared to us.

Good luck to all Moeller’s swimmers and divers as they prepare for the district meets next week!
