Player Spotlight: Jacob Herzog

To kickstart Moeller’s Indoor Track season, the team took a trip to Ohio State for the high school qualifier on January 20th. After that, runners traveled to Wittenburg University for its high school open meet on the 28th. On February 3rd, the team competed in the Cedarville Invitational, and the next competition will be at Mount St. Joseph’s indoor meet on February 10th.

The Crusader recently had the opportunity to discuss the team’s promising, upcoming season with Jacob Herzog, who has been involved with cross-country and track throughout his time at Moeller.

Crusader:  What is your favorite track and field memory or moment?

Herzog: My favorite track and field memory was winning GCL in 2023.

Crusader: How do you view your role on the team?

Herzog: I view my role on the team as a role model. I think that I try to constantly act like a person that the rest of my teammates can look up to and be like.

Crusader: How did you get into track and field?

Herzog: I got into running because I was cut from the soccer team my sophomore year, and some of my friends went to cross country, so I decided to try out cross country and see how it was. Then the seniors and the coach really convinced me to go out and try track as well to make me faster.

Crusader: What do you think is in store for the team this season?

Herzog: I think that the team this season has a lot of potential. We have a very well-rounded team. Our guys in the sprinting events are looking good, our distance is looking a lot better than it has been in the last couple of years, and our field events are also looking very good. I think that we are all looking to win GCL back-to-back years, and I think we have the talent to do it.

Thank you, Jacob Herzog, for taking time to talk with The Crusader!
