Wrestling Team Travels to Raider Invitational
The Moeller Wrestling team recently traveled to the Benjaman Logan Raider Invitational. The team made the tournament look easy, sending six of their wrestlers to the semifinals and winning all but one of those matches. Moeller Wrestling finished second out of 18 teams and scored 209.5 points in total.
Varsity Assistant Coach Sean Ryan said, “the team is young, and we have a lot of talent. I think we’re going to be able to do a lot of damage these upcoming seasons.” The full roster boasts some of the top wrestlers in the state, including Seniors Stone Busler, Jared Johnston, and Jet Sanchez. The junior class of wrestlers is strong as well, boasting Londen Murphy, Will Adkins, and Lucas Stuerenberg, all of whom are top ranked athletes.
Additionally, six freshmen are starting this year, and they are led by Bostan Noland and Blackburn Savage, who are two rising stars on the team.
The Raider Invitational gave these wrestlers a chance to show why they are ranked so high. Senior Stone Busler pinned his opponent in the second period of his finals match, setting a tone for the day. Jared Johnston pinned his opponent in the first two minutes of the first round, going on to pin throughout the tournament. The final match saw Will Adkins win 12-2 in a major decision, grabbing yet another victory for the Crusaders. Boston Noland, Noah Jackson, and London Murphy also came out as champions in the tournament as well.
Since the Raider Invitational, the Crusaders have posted a win against Elder (43-31) and a loss against La Salle (24-45). The team is now on a two-week break while they prepare for the upcoming post-season. The first round of the sectional tournament will take place at Loveland High School on Saturday, February 24th.
Good luck to all the wrestlers as they get ready to make a run at state!
